Toronto Our Playground

For the 2026-2027 season, ECC is organizing a very special project called “Toronto Our Playground”.  This event will run all year and will culminate in a special slide presentation at the end of the season that will assemble and show all the images that were submitted during the season. The project aims to celebrate our city.

As part of this project, we will see a slide presentation this fall called “Toronto Through a Visitor’s Eye” given by Lesley Kinch of a very similar project that was undertaken by our club members in 1976.  This presentation is special because it will show the city as it was in 1976. At the end of the season, we will be able to see the changes that have occurred in Toronto in the last 50 years.

The project is open to all club members. This is a friendly event and not a competition.

Each member is encouraged to submit up to 5 images (.jpg format, 1600 x 1200 pixels – the same as is standard with ECC competition entries).  Images must be submitted by March 15, 2027. These images should be taken from the Toronto area (including Greater Toronto) in the past five years.  The image title should include your image title and the  location where it was taken.

This event can include all photography categories:  Architecture, Landscape, Nature, People, Black and White, etc. The original 1976 presentation was based on film images.  However, in the digital photography age members are encouraged to use all modern digital techniques such as long exposure, multiple exposure, intentional camera movement, macro, altered reality, etc. Using digital techniques is not mandatory. Feel free to use your mobile device  for capturing your images. The aim is to show the feel of Toronto with our photos.
