What Is The Digital Diner?

The Digital Diner is a monthly photo challenge open to all ECC members. The aim is to try to improve our ability to create interesting images by taking photos on a given theme, providing a chance to experiment with different techniques and subjects. The images are uploaded to the ECC website and a Zoom meeting is held at the end of each challenge for viewing and discussion. It's not necessary to have contributed any images to take part in the meeting.

The Diner is completely non-competitive and provides an opportunity for members to share with others how and why they took their images, and to get some feedback. Although some images have gone on to ECC competition, many are less polished. The only requirement is to be willing to pick up your camera and experiment!

There are a few standing rules:

• Images are to be taken during the time frame of each challenge - generally one month. The intent is to give some thought to a new project, so submitting older images is not encouraged.
• Unless otherwise specified, you can upload up to three images per challenge.
  
• Maximum image size is 1600 x 1200 pixels.
• There should be some way of identifying the photographer (either with a watermark or by including your name in the title).

Theme For February 5th's Meeting - 7:00-9:00 PM EST

The theme for February's Digital Diner is the "Geoffrey Challenge".

Geoffrey Pierpoint was a longstanding member of ECC and Diner participant, whose images won many competitions. Sadly, he passed away last year. Although most of the photos that he submitted to the Diner were taken in or near his home, he was still able to compose some fascinating images. So, in memory of Geoffrey, this challenge will require you to find something interesting within your own four walls, or through your windows.

This is not a repeat of November's "mystery object" theme, rather a challenge to create something original from the things that surround you every day.

You can submit up to three images - all the same original photo with different treatments, or different images.

Using the usual Diner time frame of one month, for this challenge photos can be taken any time between now and Feb. 5th.
 
Images must be uploaded before the Digital Diner Zoom meeting begins (7:00pm EST) on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025.
