Projects of Six - Description of Event
Event Date: Monday, February 24, 2025
What is a "Project of Six"?
The project is designed to allow club members to present their own images to the Club which tell a story, follow a theme, show a pattern, convey an emotion, etc. using 3 to 6 images. This is not a competition or an AV show. The objective is to have fun trying something new and different. All members are encouraged to participate.
Have a look at your images and select 3-6 images that connect in some way -- they tell a story, follow a theme, show a pattern, convey an emotion, etc. The connection between the images should not be difficult for the viewers to identify. The group of images (the "Project of Six") are intended to be viewed as a unified experience and presented together with your Artist's Statement. The purpose of the Artist's Statement is to allow you, as the maker,
- Upload a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 images to the competition titled "Friendly - Projects Of Six". As this is not a competition, you can use images that you may have submitted to the Club in the past.
- Write a brief "Artist's Statement" about the six images and what they mean to you. This is not about “how you took the images.” It is about “why you took the images, how are they connected and what do they mean to you.” It is the artist's written description of the work, which is for, and in support of, your images with the purpose of assisting the viewer in accessing and understanding how they come together as a project. You may want to include if other artists or sources have inspired or influenced you in the project. The statement can be a few sentences to a few paragraphs. E-mail your Artist's Statement to Carmina Maruska (carminamaruska@gmail.com), no later than February 17th.
- Remember, the images are a Project, not just random selection of images that you like.
- There is a wealth of information available on the internet about photography projects and artist's statements. If you have never done this type of project, be sure to check out the wealth of information available.
- Feel free to select from images you have already taken or, create all new images for your project. It is your choice.
- Submit your images and Artist's Statement no later than February 17, 2025.
